All along the Canal the Military is building these pontoon bridges so they can quickly
get across the Canal and into the Sinai Desert.
At first I speculated that the Egyptian Military had plans for Israel, but that
seemed far fetched. We have since learned the
reason for these bridges. In 2013 an offshoot of Al Quaeda from the Sinai Peninsula
attempted to sink two ships in the Canal. Their efforts
were puny; they used rocket propelled grenades, which are ineffective against such
huge ships. Nonetheless, it woke the World up to the importance of
keeping the Suez Canal secure from terrorists. Hence the military guards every mile
or so, and hence the pontoon bridges
-- so the Egyptian Military can get across the Suez Canal quickly and run down the
perps.
